The Dead Secret was an enjoyable read, though not quite at the level of The Woman in White and The Moonstone. It appears Collins had no qualms with prodding the bear that was Victorian attitudes, which resulted in some of the more humorous, witty sections/5.

Although the "secret" is revealed with some time to spare in the novel, the unraveling of events still make for an enjoyable conclusion.

I would probably rank The Dead Secret a shade below some of the more prominent ones (No Name, The Woman in White, The Moonstone), but it is still highly entertaining.4/5().
